Using and managing the digital tachograph for drivers and transport managers
What the driver has to do in the cab and what the company has to check in the office, in a single course. Written from the current text of the EU regulations and Spanish transport law.
Each person takes it online at their own pace. Your company keeps the record of who took it, when and with what score. The course is delivered in Spanish.
- 14 hours
- 10 units
- 25-question final test
- Verifiable certificate
One course for the cab and the office
Drivers need to know what the company checks. Transport managers need to know what the driver does in the cab.
Drivers
Of vehicles over 3.5 t. From 1 July 2026, also of vehicles over 2.5 t on international or cabotage operations. Units 1 to 7 and 10 are theirs.
Transport managers
Along with the staff who plan routes and shifts. Every unit is useful to them. Units 8 and 9 are written for them: checks, liability, downloads and analysis.
The company has to train, instruct and check
- Regulation (EU) 165/2014, Article 33(1). The transport undertaking ensures that its drivers receive proper training and instructions on how the tachograph works. It also checks regularly that they use it correctly.
- Regulation (EC) 561/2006, Article 10(2). The company organises its drivers’ work so that they can comply with driving and rest times, gives them proper instructions and carries out regular checks.
- What the course leaves you. A record of who took it, when and with what score. It serves as evidence of that training whenever you are asked for it.
The course does not relieve the company of liability. It shows that the company has trained its people, which is one of the things the law asks for. It does not replace the work organisation, instructions or checks that the law also requires.
Legislation reviewed as of October 2026.

What transport companies ask us
Is tachograph training for drivers mandatory?
Article 33(1) of Regulation (EU) 165/2014 requires the transport undertaking to ensure its drivers receive proper training and instructions on the tachograph. The law sets no hours or format. This course is one way of doing it and of being able to prove it.
If the company runs the course, can it still be fined?
Yes. The course shows that you have trained your drivers, which is one of the duties of the company. Infringements on driving times, tachograph use or downloads are still penalised. What you have is evidence of the training to put forward.
Does it replace the CPC (CAP in Spain)?
No. The CAP is the professional driver qualification regulated by Royal Decree 284/2021. This course is company training on the tachograph: it does not lead to any qualification or to a driver card.
How long is it and how do you pass?
14 hours across 10 units, each with its own case study, exercise and self-assessment. At the end there is a 25-question test in 40 minutes. The pass mark is 80 % and there are two attempts.
Is it useful for van drivers?
Yes. From 1 July 2026 goods vehicles over 2.5 tonnes on international or cabotage operations fall under the driving and rest time rules. Unit 1 explains who is in scope and how to prove an exemption when you are not.
What does each driver need to sign in?
Their own email address and a web browser. They sign in with a one-time code sent to their email. No passwords and nothing to install.
Is it up to date?
The legislation was reviewed as of October 2026. Every statement in the syllabus cites the article it comes from.
Make sure your fleet knows what the tachograph records
